Our commitment to GDPR

April 23, 2018

With the new upcoming data protection law in the EU, businesses are scrambling to prepare well before the law comes in force on 25th of May.

The amoCRM team is also striving to meet the requirements of the GDPR and ensure that the data of our European customers is handled properly and on a lawful basis.

What is GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)?

This new legislation is unique in it's reach: every business — even those outside of EU — is required to follow the law, if that business is processing and/or controlling the data of EU citizens. Failure to adhere to the new law will result in heavy fines.

The main purpose for introducing the GDPR is to protect individuals against intrusive practices. This includes both the information targeted at the individual and the information collected from them.

In essence, the GDPR guarantees the right of every EU individual to:

  • know how their information is processed
  • see that it is correct
  • be sure that it is modified or deleted on their request
  • and much more

Protection of the individual data is also emphasized, as security breaches and data leaks are treated much more seriously now.

Overall, the new law will introduce a more transparent environment for the relationship between a customer and a business. You can learn more about GDPR here.

What about amoCRM?

We are not sitting by idly. At the moment, our team is making progress toward preparing a number of changes to the system, updating our Privacy Policy and producing other information for you in regards to GDPR.

We have always taken the security of our customer's data very seriously, and it's time for us to push it to the new level. On top of meeting the requirements of GDPR in regards to data security, we will also be undergoing Privacy Shield and SOC 2 certifications.

amoCRM is prepared to meet the deadline on May 25th and ensure our European customers' data is handled within the requirements of the EU law.

We'll be releasing more info in the coming weeks — stay tuned to our blog and announcements, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to email us at support@amocrm.com.
